Indigenous Peoples, comprising only 5% of the global population, account for one-third of the 900 million extremely impoverished individuals in rural areas. Ensuring access to energy for indigenous communities is crucial for achieving Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG 7), which aims to provide universal energy access. Unfortunately, Indigenous Peoples often remain overlooked in energy access discussions, leading to insufficient data and inadequate attention in major SDG 7 reports. Furthermore, renewable energy projects in Indigenous territories frequently disregard Indigenous rights, resulti...
The harmful effects of climate change, land grabbing by agro-industries and the rise of mining in the Cameroon estuary area are encouraging the local population to converge on low-altitude lands to cut down the forest and set up agricultural operations with poor cultivation practices that degrade the soil. Land degradation is an increasing worldwide problem with negative consequences on agricultural production, environment and food security. The long period of land exploitation with poor cultivation practices, such as extensive slash-and-burn agriculture, monoculture, poor crop rotations, etc....
This directory is primarily intended for the populations of the Lowé area and surrounding villages in Senegal, for practitioners and experts in traditional medicine, and for health professionals. To face COVID 19, Senegalese officials consulted the federation of traditional medicine practitioners to find a solution to the pandemic. Their purpose was to try foreign therapeutic products that might prove efficient but also to tap from local knowledge and plants to face the pandemic. This directory stems from the same rationale, but does not solely deal with remedies against COVID 19. It also off...
