Conservation of Biodiversity and livelihood promotion in and nearby villages of Kakoijana Reserve Forest
The Project area Srijangram is a Forest dominated, and Tribal People dominated area; therefore, this area is susceptible to Bio Diversity Maintenance and Livelihood promotion. This area needs special focus so that the abundant natural resource of the project area can be utilized in the most rationale way so that the biodiversity would not affect and livelihood could be promoted for the poor tribal people. Conservation of forests and wild lives is also another challenge in this area. This area is full of natural resources, including natural water bodies. But due to the irrational use of natural resources, the forest area and the water bodies are shrinking day by day. This is affecting the wild lives badly. Therefore the need is to make the people aware of the proper maintenance of the bio-diversity of this forest-dominated area by aforestation, conservation of wild animals, maintenance of ecological balance by protecting the environment, and using the natural resource rationally to promote their livelihood. For this, various interventions need to be made, like fruit-bearing tree plantation, water body development, promotion of indigenous cottage industries like Handloom Weaving, Fruit Processing, Composite Farming, Bee Keeping, Production of Vermi Composts, etc. Maintenance of modern lifestyle using solar systems and natural Gobar Gas are also another project component for protecting the environment and leading a comfortable lifestyle. All these project interventions will help protect the Bio Diversity of this forest-dominated area, save a favorable environment for humans and animals, natural resource management rationally, and livelihood promotion.
