Overall objective/activities to be implemented under the grant: To increase Biodiversity conservation practices in the district.
Objectives: 1. To engage local communities in the district in the practice of sustainable apiculture to increase bee population. 2. To increase opportunities for alternative livelihoods and food security through apiculture. 3. To train at least 20 people in basic beekeeping techniques and best practices. 4. To conduct at least outreach events to increase awareness and appreciation and knowledge of importance of bees in biodiversity and food security. 5. To increase vegetation by at least 5 acres to establish forage areas for bees and conserve indigenous species
Activities: a) training workshops in basic beekeeping b) Public awareness and education campaign c) Procure and supply beekeeping tools, supplies to trainees d) Provide support with hive management e) Tree planting to increase bee forage areas whilst conserving specific local species
