Addressing Clean Drinking Water Scarcity in Dhiggaru Island
Addressing Clean Drinking Water Scarcity in Dhiggaru Island
This project tackles Dhiggaru island's insufficient access to safe drinking water due to climate change-induced weather patterns. It aims to cost-effectively provide safe water while addressing plastic waste concerns. The inclusive participation of women, persons with disabilities, men, and youth, supported by stakeholders like the island council, WDC, and educational institutions, is central. Expected outcomes include the shift to glass bottles, education on safe rainwater harvesting, and the implementation of RO water filtration systems. Overall goals involve reducing plastic waste, mitigating health risks from unsafe water, and ensuring affordable access to clean water for all residents.
