The project "Promoting ecotourism for ethnic minorities living in the buffer zones of Pu Mat National Park contributing to forest protection and biodiversity conservation of Nghe An Western Bio Reserve" (VNM/SGP/OP6N 4/CORE/2019/01 ) is implemented by Nghe An Provincial Tourism Association (PTA) in collaboration with Department of Tourism and Con Cuong - Tuong Duong District People's Committees (DPCs) during 2019-2021. It aims to achieve the overall objective of having biodiversity conserved in the Biosphere Reserve of western Nghe An based on community based eco-tourism development integrated with sustainable forest protection and development in the buffer zone of Pu Mat National Park. Specific objectives include: (i) The local ethnic minority people’s knowledge and capacity of sustainable forest protection and development integrated with community based eco-tourism development in the buffer zone of Pu Mat NP, improved; (ii) Three models for community based eco-tourism development integrated with sustainable forest protection and development developed for replication in the Mang Le forest of Quang Thinh village; the Khe Co forest of Quang Phuc village, Tam Dinh commune; and of Ban Xieng village, Mon Son commune within the buffer zone of Pu Mat NP; and (iii) Experiences and knowledge in ecosystem based eco-tourism development integrated with biodiversity conservation, forest and other natural resource protection in the Biosphere Reserve of western Nghe An documented and shared among the ethnic minority community and relevant stakeholders; and recommendations for sustainable development made and submitted to Tuong Duong and Con Cuong DPCs.
