The project "Promoting sustainable value chains in rice-shrimp production in Bae Lieu province" (VNM/SGP/OP5/Y9/STAR/2019/04) is implemented by Bac Lieu Fisheries Association for 24 months since October 2019. The project is aimed at building a sustainable value chain in shrimp-rice production in order to minimize risk and increase income for single farmers, producer groups and small cooperatives in two districts of Hong Dan and Phuoc Long. This will then help to improve efficiency and share benefits from the value chain, consequently sustain the shrimp-rice production in Bac Lieu province. Specific activities include: (i) Raising awareness and capacity in establishing, operating the shrimp-rice production value chain through communication and provision of training and counseling to participating community groups; (ii) Successfully building the value chain in shrimp – rice production (conducting surveys in the project sites, implementing capacity assessment on participating entities, operating the model, taking M&E activities); (iii) Stock taking and drawing lessons learnt for the model replication.
