The project "Development of community-based model of male shrimp-rice cultivation in the Northern area of Highway 1A, Bac Lieu province" (VNM/SGP/OP6/Y3/CORE/2017/1) has been implemented by Bac Lieu Fisheries Association since May 2018. The project is aimed at developing a community-based model of shrimp-rice cultivation in order to improve productivity of and economic benefits from the shrimp-rice cultivation. In addition, the project will conduct training activities and transfer of advanced techniques, specifically training on FFS-based production model for 300 farmers, TOT for 20 farmers and establishing 2 collectives to implement safe and sustainable shrimp-rice cultivation. The project also aims at mitigating vulnerabilities from drought, salt intrusion and unfavorable impacts of climate changes to local communities by implementing solutions of conservation and sustainale growth of drought-resistant and salt-resistant rice seeds, promoting the communities’ sustainable use of land and water resources as well as conservation of biodiversity in the Mekong delta.”
