The project "Developing the community-based Artemia production supporting climate change adaptation in coastal areas of Hoa Binh district, Bae Lieu province" (VNM/SGP/OP6/Y 4/CORE/2019/05) has been implemented by Bac Lieu Provincial Youth's Union for 30 months since October 2019. The project is aimed at exploiting, using sustainably and effectively coastal salt water ecosystems in adaptation to climate changes through the development of sustainable community-based Artemia farming model, making suitable cultivation arrangements in the available area of individual households, laying the background for industrializing the Artemia production in order to gain high yield, stability, limited risk of diseases, minimized environmental pollution in Bac Lieu province, along with continuing to promote Bac Lieu Artemia brand and promote exports. The project will implement specific activity groups as follow: (i) Enabling farmers to access and apply technological advances, actively identifying potential risks, difficulties in the production; enhancing the management capacity of local officials in order to support farmers implementing Artemia farming models; (ii) Providing support to develop community-based Artemia farming models; (iii) Communicating project activities and results to farmers in the project location and neighboring areas for replication of successful models; (iv) Conducting M&E and evaluation of project results for lessons learnt and recommendations for replication.
