This document analyzes policies to institutionalize the management of traditional forests of ethnic minorities and local communities in Vietnam. This is a policy discussion based on Pan Nature's research results through analysis of forest allocation data for communities in 24 provinces of Vietnam and assessment of community-based forest management at 13 check points in 12 provinces during 2017-2018. The report has recommended for recognition of and support to the development of ICCAs based on existing traditional forests in Vietnam.

The report highlights the role and contributions of CSOs to national climate change mitigation efforts, presenting results from the evaluation of community-based climate changes adaption models and making recommendations for the NAP development in Vietnam.

Legal Analysis to assess the Impact of National Laws, Policies and Institutional Frameworks on Ethnic Minorities and local communities in the Conservation and Development of Natural Resources in Viet Nam.

The material highlights the role of sargassum (Mo Seaweed) in conservation of marine biodiversity and climate changes mitigation, alarming the current destructive harvesting of sargassum in Nha Trang Bay and presenting a model of sustainable harvesting in order to protect marine resources. It has been developed under the project on "Developing sustainable livelihood based on Mo seaweed for fishermen living in the bank of Nha Trang bay to strengthen biodiversity conservation of the buffer zone of marine protected area of Nha Trang bay, Khanh Hoa province".

This technical know-how has been developed by the ICCA GSI funded project which aims to strengthen capacities to preserve forest resources and biodiversity and promoting sustainable livelihood for ethnic minorities in Sao La Nature Reserve, Thua Thien Hue province, Vietnam (VNM/ICCA-GSl/2017/05).
